What is an ezLCD?

An ezLCD is an intelligent lcd module that allows an embedded engineer to rapidly create a graphical user interface for a product. The ezLCD consists of an LCD, touchscreen with controller (most models), LCD driver circuitry a processor and graphic controller. The ezLCD includes powerful PC based software tools that allow the user to customize its firmware, graphical objects and interfaces. The user may use a very low power host even an 8 bit microcontroller to communicate with it. An existing embedded design may be upgraded to a graphical user interface.

Can I run my code inside an ezLCD?

No, the ezLCD uses all its resources to present a user with a robust reliable graphical user interface.

Why don't I just buy a processor and LCD controller and build my own GUI?

If your volume is over 10,000 units a year and you have the time and engineering resources to do so it may make sense. We believe from our experience that it would cost over $100,000 to do so and take 6 to 9 months. ezLCD gets you to market quicker and with much less engineering costs. What is the manufacturing life cycle for an ezLCD model?

We design around components that have at least a 5 year availability. We also have the ability to some degree to do component substitution after that while still maintaining the same physical, electrical and software interfaces.

How do I talk to an ezLCD?

All ezLCD's can be talked to with serial ttl or SPI. Other models support additional interfaces such as parallel and I2C.
